Dr. Samuel Uwa Osemota

Dr. Samuel Uwa Osemota- impacts on the world with his character cannot be overemphasized, displaying humility as an upright man of God and renowned scholar, showing us that a man can be a gentleman with a heart of Gold that’s been welded in faith through his Christian values. Dr. Osemota: a pioneer visionary academic leader in Nigeria.

Originally from Uwenoke community, Isibhelua quarters, Ihumudumu, Ekpoma, Esan West LGA, Edo-state, Nigeria. Dr. Osemota, the oldest in his family and a child of Joseph and Rebecca Osemota, lost his father as an adolescent but did not let the tragedy hold him back.

He took this tragedy and turned it into a motivation and a drive to work and provide for his mother, siblings, and those around him. He is an inspiration to us all as he took on a role that by his hard work, showed that he could rise to the challenges and obstacles that life throws.

He took the initiative to become self-taught in Calculus, Mathematics, Fortran, and many other subjects which led him to earn scholarships to study in the UK and USA. The records he set in various institutions in the UK and USA are yet to be broken and a high standard for the family to live up to… and Abba (father in Esan dialect) we will make you proud!

Dr. Osemota graduated from the University of Tennessee and taught there for a few years. He then went back home to Nigeria to contribute his quota in nation-building. He helped contribute to the establishment of various higher institutions in the country; impeccably noted the Foremost Nigerian Federal Polytechnic in Auchi, Edo State. He helped steer the institution into the twenty-first century.

Dr. Osemota, so loved by all and proud of all his students’ achievements.

Daddy, as he is fondly called, instilled in his children and everyone around him good morals and values. He stressed the importance of always giving back to community of which those around him, especially his children harken into. He never let anyone down, always there whenever you need him, working and giving back to his community.

As the Odionwere (Head) of both Uwenoke community and Isibhelua quarters in Ihumudumu, Ekpoma, Esan West LGA, Edo-State, Daddy’s headship/leadership ushered in prosperity and peace in these communities.

Daddy, lived a fulfilled life, had many accomplishments that are duly noted but the soul and heart that daddy had was a light set on a hilltop and shined bright for all to be inspired by (Matthew 5:14). He was a loving, caring, compassionate, and bright man and the light of Jesus shined through his character.

The loss of Dr. Osemota deeply pains the family and loved ones he grew to be so close with, his beloved wife Mrs. Lucy Amadin Osemota, lovely children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren all hold onto this: that he loved them all.

Daddy, fought a good fight, finished the race, and kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for him a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, has given to him (2 Timothy 4:7-8).

Daddy, dearly beloved Father, Abba Me, Mentor, and Best Friend! You will never be forgotten and will forever live on in our hearts and we will see you soon.
