PRE-EVENT

The Emmanuel Osemota foundation Logistics team met with the Edo State Ministry of Education in line with the government’s directives for conducting outreaches in secondary schools in Edo State.

The Ministry of Education was pleased with the initiative and recommended St Maria Goretti Girls College in Ikpoba-Okha, Local Govt. Area. The team visited the school where the principal of the school received us and welcomed the idea.

The logistics team discussed the best available date for the event to take place. We also discussed the number of female students we wanted and classes of focus. The logistics team received all the resources and publicity materials from the Foundation and ensured they were all in good conditions before the event.

THE EVENT

The team arrived early enough at the venue to setup. Immediately setup was complete, the students were seated down, one hundred and eighty-eight (188) of them (all from senior secondary school). The event commenced with a Symposium lecture on Human Trafficking Sexual Abuse, Sex education and Menstrual Hygiene handled by Dr. Peace Ariavie. The Symposium was very interactive and attracted lots of questions which were all answered by Dr. Peace Ariavie. She went further to illustrate the proper use of sanitary pads.

We went further to organize the quiz competition for the students. Thought-provoking questions on Human trafficking and Girls Health were asked and the fastest students to provide the answers qualified for the quiz.

At the end of the quiz competition, Odaro Success finished as the 2nd runner-up and was gifted a brand-new Asus Laptop. Aiokpa Prudence finished as the 1st runner-up and was gifted a brand-new Asus Laptop. Iwuh Kindness finished in 1st position and received a brand-new Asus Laptop from Emmanuel Osemota Foundation.

To mark the end of the event, all attendees of the event and other students of the College were given different gifts such as our branded school bags, notebooks, pens and sanitary pads each as a contribution to their menstrual health. The students could not hold back their joy as they kept waving their bags and shouting the name of the foundation.

We are grateful to all our donors for their enormous generosity which made this Girl-Child Initiative a huge success.  Thank you!
