PRE-EVENT

In partnership with the Edo State Ministry of Education, the Emmanuel Osemota Foundation coordinated another outreach initiative—this time honoring the International Day of the Boy Child. The Ministry recommended Eyaen Secondary School in Uhunmwode Local Government Area for the program.

Our logistics team worked ahead of time to confirm dates, identify participating classes, and deliver all educational materials and banners. The principal and staff of the school warmly welcomed our team and showed great enthusiasm for the event’s theme: “Building Self-Esteem in Boys: Stand Up, Be Heard, Be Seen.”

THE EVENT

The venue came alive as over 250 senior secondary school boys gathered, excited for what lay ahead.

Dr. Ochuko Onovae, our Chief Operations Officer, opened the session with an engaging talk on personal hygiene and self-confidence. He stressed the importance of grooming, body care, and cleanliness as foundational steps toward developing strong self-esteem and a positive identity. His words resonated deeply with the students, sparking thoughtful questions and personal reflections.

The program continued with a crucial conversation on cultism and drug abuse, led by Mr. Origho and Dr. Oghenekaro Hanunu, the Foundation’s Chief Medical Officer. Together, they used real-life stories and statistics to warn the boys about peer pressure, gang activity, and substance misuse. The speakers emphasized that boys must protect their futures and reach out for help when needed.

To foster academic ambition, the Foundation hosted a quiz competition that challenged students across science, leadership, and social issues. The winner, Moses Ehimache, was awarded a brand-new laptop, while other participants received notebooks and branded educational supplies.
