In a heartwarming ceremony marked by tradition, honor, and inspiration, the Emmanuel Osemota Foundation hosted the 2025 edition of the Dr. Samuel Uwa & Prof. (Mrs.) Lucy Amadin Osemota Memorial Awards: Stethoscope Presentation at Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma. The prestigious event recognized and awarded 20 exceptional medical students who emerged top performers in the Part 1 MBBS Examination of the 2023/2024 academic session.
THE EVENT
The award ceremony served as a powerful tribute to the legacies of Dr. Samuel Uwa & Prof. (Mrs.) Lucy Amadin Osemota—two visionary educators whose passion for learning and service has left an enduring mark on generations of scholars. Their commitment to academia, both in Nigeria and abroad, lives on through this prestigious memorial initiative.
Representing the Foundation was Prof. G.B.S. Iyalomhe, former Provost of the College of Medicine, who also led the academic procession. Standing in for the Osemota family, delivered a stirring tribute to the memorial’s honorees.
In his eloquent address, he reflected: “Dr. Samuel Uwa & Prof. Mrs. Lucy Amadin Osemota were not only trailblazers in their academic disciplines, but also compassionate visionaries committed to the upliftment of others. Their names symbolize discipline, dedication, and devotion to education. Their legacy endures not only in bricks and books—but in the lives they continue to shape through this Foundation.”
Receiving the stethoscopes on behalf of the University was the Acting Vice Chancellor, ably represented by the Director of General Studies, Prof. Ignis Iribhogbe.
In his remarks, Prof. Iribhogbe conveyed the University’s sincere appreciation to the Emmanuel Osemota Foundation and urged the recipients to remain focused and dedicated to their studies, so they can continue to maintain this level of performance throughout their medical training.

This year’s recipients—selected in strict order of academic merit—received their stethoscopes in a formal presentation witnessed by the Director of Studies, faculty deans, and members of the College of Medicine. Each name called resonated with the fruit of hard work, perseverance, and academic brilliance.
The ceremony represents not just an award but a rite of passage—from theoretical foundations to clinical practice. It is an annual tradition that continues to grow in prestige and meaning, now in its 2025 edition.
